The George Bailey Collectors

On Facebook when I get a friend request I normally check their profile to learn more about the person making the request.  Generally, I’ll pass on people with little written about themselves or their backstory.

So one day I got a friend request and checked out the page of the women requesting it.  I found little there except for three friends listed.  Checking them out I was stunned at what I found.  All three of these men shared my name, George Bailey.  What?  Did someone have a fetish for this name?  The very name of the character Jimmy Stewart played in the popular holiday movie, It’s A Wonderful Life.

How To Spot A Scammer

 

My goal in this article is to provide some ways to avoid the worst.  Some of this might seem like rookie advice, or tips that are already well known.  That’s fine.  Take from this what you need. Most of what I relate here is from my experiences on the pen pal site Interpals.  Also, my experiences are from dealing with female scammers, or those that pose as women online.  Who knows who these people really are?

The Age Of Digital Women

 

Early on when they approached me they were obviously using computer generated images of women. They don’t have the look of actual photographs and something always seems off. I started out in 3D rendering with the Commodore Amiga in the mid-80’s so I can spot a fake swiftly. And these early images were so badly done it just about defeats the purpose of trying to snag someone with these images. I would offer that some men probably were. Some guys can’t get past a pretty face. Having been a stock photographer I noticed quickly that something wasn’t right. Such as the backgrounds lacking the proper depth-of-field (background blur) and the general look of exquisite perfection among the models. Who has skin like this? All CGI models look perfect as do the environments they are placed in. They are of one race, no others.
